Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 May 2026
This policy explains what personal information Ploonet collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Ploonet you agree to this policy. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@ploonet.app.
Who we are
Ploonet is a social platform for sharing positive news and practical ideas, operated by Radian Business Intelligence (“Ploonet”, “we”, “us”). We are based in Australia and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
We collect:
- Account information — your email, username, and display name. We may also collect information to confirm you meet our minimum age requirement (see “Age requirement”).
- Content you create — posts, comments, reactions, bookmarks, profile details, and any family-tree information you choose to add.
- Payment information — if you subscribe to Premium, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details; we keep only a customer/subscription reference.
- Usage and device data — basic technical information (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages viewed) used to operate, secure, and improve the service.
How we use your information
- To provide and personalise the service and your feed.
- To process subscriptions and send transactional emails (e.g. invites, billing notices).
- To keep the platform safe, prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations, including age-related requirements.
- To show advertising to non-paying users, where you have consented (see below).
Cookies and advertising
Ploonet is free to use thanks to advertising shown to non-paying users. We use Google AdSense to serve these ads.
- Premium members are never shown ads, and the Google advertising tag is never loaded for them — so they are not tracked by our ad provider.
- We ask for your consent before loading any advertising cookies. If you decline, the Google ad tag is not loaded and you will see only our own first-party messages instead.
- When you consent, Google may set cookies and process data (including your IP address and device information) to serve and measure ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, which will prompt the consent banner again.
We also use a small amount of strictly necessary storage (for example, to keep you signed in). This is required for the service to function and is not used for advertising.
Age requirement
Ploonet is a social media service. Under Australia’s social media minimum age law, you must be at least 16 years old to create or keep a Ploonet account. We take reasonable steps to prevent under-16s from holding accounts and may ask you to verify your age. If we identify an account held by someone under 16, we may deactivate or remove it.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only as needed to run the service, with:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Google — advertising, where you have consented.
- Microsoft Azure — hosting, storage, and transactional email.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can delete your account at any time; we then remove or de-identify your personal information, except where we must retain it by law. Any data collected to verify your age is kept only as long as necessary and then destroyed.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal information from your account settings, or by contacting us. If you have a concern we can’t resolve, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
